Morocco Equity Markets | 4 Sep 2015: Morocco Casablanca Stock Exchange equity markets added US$57 million
Casablanca, Morocco, Capital Markets in Africa — The Moroccan benchmark stock index (measured as MASI Index) surged by 5.58 point or 0.06 percent to close at 9,307.51 points (with a year-to-date performance to -3.25 percent). The equity market capitalization closed at MAD 474.479 billion (an increase of MAD 559 million or US$ 57 million) from MAD 473.920 market capitalizations recorded at previous trading session. The market activities measured as total traded value was recorded at MAD 35.940 million.
Moroccan most active share index (MADEX) remained unchanged to close at 7,608.60 points. FTSE CSE Morocco 15 Index surged by 0.39 points to close at 8,229.89 points (-6.70 percent year-to-date performance) and FTSE CSE Morocco All-Liquid Index soared by 0.03 percent to end at 7,835.53 points (to bring the year-to-date performance to -2.80 percent).
In term of sector indices, top gainers were Forestry & Paper, Oil & Gas and Mining sector indices surged by 3.87 percent, 2.57 percent and 2.53 percent respectively. On the other hand, Leisure & Hotels sector index (sagged by 3.49 percent to close the year-to-date performance at -28.29 percent), Chemicals sector index (tumbled by 3.24 percent to end at -48.53 percent year-to-date return) and Transport sector index (slumped by 1.27 percent to end at 1,807.24).
From the market price movers and shakers, the gainers were, MANAGEM gained 6.38 percent to end at MAD 830.00 and M2M Group advanced by 5.99 percent to settle at MAD 214.20. Likewise, AFRIQUIA GAZ jumped by 4.97 percent or MAD 97.00 with closing price of MAD 2,048.00 as well as MAGHREB OXYGENE rose by 4.66 percent to settle at MAD 110.00. On the contrary, SONASID and STOKVIS NORD AFRIQUE slumped by6.00 percent to settle at MAD 620.00 and sagged by 6.00 percent to end at MAD 23.03 respectively. TIMAR and SNEP declined by 6.00 percent with closing price of MAD 376.00 and fell by 5.15 percent to settle at MAD 105.00 respectively.
